The Fool shows a child or youth, while the Magician depicts an all powerful adept. Just as the Fool showed us the price of eternal innocence, so this Magician gives us the fearsomeness of taking on responsibility. If the Major Arcana represents the Fool’s journey, the Magician is the first thing the Fool encounters.

Was supposed to meet a friend who’s become a Sith Lord after learning the rules of the Game on Saturday for dinner and drinks with his chick cousin and chick cousin’s girlfriend. The Sith Lord swore by the effectiveness of the prescribed Player’s TTP (tactics, technique and procedures), given the number of femmes he managed to chat up (and even get their numbers).

Genshiken Ep.09
GENSHIKEN Ep.09 – Madarame and Saki-chan alone in the clubroom

I would have joined him as his wingman but was incapacitated by a running nose (I think its a reaction of dust allergy rather than the Haze. The air in the Dungeon is getting real bad.) Nevertheless I had a thoroughly enjoyable and most satisfying weekend since the running nose gave me a good reason to shut myself in. And for the first time in the whole year, I finally found time to enjoy the stuff that I love the most – watch anime, read manga (+comics) and still surf the Net. And to cap the weekend, a last minute lightning trip to Mike’s shop bagged me the coveted Angels at a good price.

I watched all 12 episodes of Genshiken, eight episodes of Haruhi Suzumiya’s Melacholy and the chinese-subbed version of Ghost in the Shell – S.A.C Solid State Society. I am eagerly waiting for the release of the licenced english-subbed version. It’s a damn solid sequal to the last season of Stand Alone Complex – in terms of theme, plot and characterisation – and even the cinematography. For those who’d been following the manga and the movies – this installment of Stand Alone Complex combines elements of the first manga collection (from “Chapter 02 – Super Spartan”), the second manga – Man-Machine Interface (the multiple-android interface Motoko Aramaki) plus the movie “Innocence” (the scene where Motoko battles the army of Geisha-androids). Cyberpunk Review has a rather good write-up on the movie.

I also happened to stumble upon Nonone Karin’s (ののねかりん) site. She’s a cosplayer who did an impersonation of the Stand Alone Complex version of Major Motoko Kusanagi.

使XX

Sunday evening just before dinner, I purposely caught a train to Mike’s shop in Chinatown so as to bring home the Angels – 使徒XX – the Evangelion inspired girl figure series designed by Yoshizaki Mine (吉崎観音).

Mike managed to get the Hong Kong release of this collectors’ item and it’s cheaper than the initial Japanese release. It must be some funny trade rules – Japanese direct imports are very expensive, and from hearsay it’s because of import taxes as there is no free-trade agreement between Singapore and Japan. I wonder if it’s true.

Mike’s wife, Kelly, asked me of the four designs which was my favourite. Her’s was Sachiel as she said that figure looked “wild”. Mine is Tabris, as I said a chick who wears her boyfriend’s shirt and nothing else is a turn-on. (I can’t help but to recall my flatmate’s then girlfriend, who’d walk around the flat wearing nothing but her boyfriend’s Polo Ralph Laurent shirt – and she looked hotter in that than her slip on chamisole.)

This is hot! 萌!

I told Kelly that when a girl wears her boyfriend’s shirt for pyjamas, that’s a sign of pwnage.

GOOD FRIDAY

If there’s any Japanese Idol that looked like a character that walked out of a Yoshizaki Mine sketch book, it’d be Aki Hoshino (ほしのあき) – the Bambi-eyes, clueless ‘innocent’ look, petite frame and HUGE tits. I think she’s an F-cup. She’s the most sought after Idol now. I picked up this magazine when I saw it last Friday at my haunt. If there’s any local celebrities that is 萌, that’d be Michelle Chia followed by Fiona Xie. :-)))

Friday Dynamite

That’s because it comes with a 60-minute DVD showing the “behind the scenes” of Friday’s gravure idols photography :-)))

Hmmm. And I even managed to revise for Monday’s Japanese test.
