MUGEN Takes Flight!
Just as I thought it was late, MUGEN #2 arrived in the mail today.

MUGEN Issue 2
The art and story looked better in the second issue. This manga anthology still has that WOW factor when I flipped through the pages. I believe this magazine has great potential. Although it is supposed to be a limited series, I hope there’s a chance for MUGEN continue beyond issue 6 and continue to serve as a platform for local talents to publish their works.
Here’s a peak at the art of the second issue:

BUNNY

AWAKEN

LAMENT

BARD’S TALE

JACK DOE
This noirish story continues to be my favourite! It has the feel of a Brian Michael Bendis/Michael Avon Oeming comic. I like the playing card motif featured in this mystery-thriller.

MYSTERY INVESTIGATORS V
This issue also featured the book launch at Heeren as well as the local doujin event Kaleidoscope!
Even though this anthology provided the creatives an opportunity to experience what it’s like to handle editors, deadlines and everything in between, this magazine also gave the editorial team a chance to handle creatives and put out a publication under the pressure of time. The training goes both ways and it’s definitely good for the fledgling Singaporean comics scene.
Just as the editorial team and creatives soldiering on to get the remaining four issues to the press, MUGEN is still on the lookout for contributions to the magazine. If you have art, letters, fan-mail, photographs any stuff that’s print worthy, send them via email to “mugen@chuangyi.com.sg“. Else, you can also snail mail them to “Proj. MUGEN, Chuang Yi Publishing Pte Ltd, (attn English editorial Dept.) Blk 1003, Bt Merah Central, Redhill Industrial Estate, #02-01 to 04, Singapore 159836“. For digital images sent via email, please ensure that they are 300dpi in terms of resolution and in TIFF format.

Wow, it looks impressive.
