08 ZEON Military Fatigue
It’s no secret that I am a ZEON sympathiser. Yesterday, I drew a M-sized COSPA “08 ZEON Military Fatigue” 「08ジオン野戦服 」 from the usual stockist. It set me back some 15,000円 in credit.
08 ZEON Military Fatigue
It was only meant to be a visit to the Kuan Yin temple to offer incense. Since I was in the area, I headed over to Sunshine Plaza. As there wasn’t any new stuff so at KKnM, I flipped one of the earlier shipment list out of boredom. That’s when I spotted this item that hadn’t been crossed out.
This jacket was worn by the soldiers of ZEON Earth Attack Force 「地球方面軍」, a unit under the command of ZEON Mobile Assault Force 「ジオン公国軍突撃機動軍」. It was featured in “Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team” 「機動戦士ガンダム 第08MS小隊」, one of the better OVA series. (I liked this better than the “0083: Stardust Memory” series but not as much as 0080:War in the Pocket)

The jacket is made from 100% cotton. The fabric feels a little stiff – more stiff than a fresh set of SAF No.4 battle dress uniform. Perhaps it will soften after a few wash.

The back of the jacket looks unremarkable, if not for that small detail at the bottom.

It’s a label that makes the jacket look and feel like an authentic military-issue kit.
The jacket is good enough for air-conditioned offices. Am wearing it now as I spend the night in the Watchtower. It’s comfortably warm. Because the sleeves are a little long, reaching close to the knuckles, I rolled the sleeves up as if I’m wearing a smart 4. I think the jacket looked nicer with the sleeves rolled up. Makes your biceps look bigger.

SIEG ZEON!!
My first COSPA t-shirt was an olive drab TITANS t-shirt that I bought back in 2005. Last year, I spent a bomb on COSPA t-shirts during the annual pilgrimage. Of all the pieces, my favourite one is the Laughing Man t-shirt, though I liked the blue Tachikoma’s too. I only got two pieces during this year’s trip, one a Neon Genesis Evangelion (black tee, with the red words “SEELE 01 SOUND ONLY” and the other an Armored Trooper VOTOMS tee that says “最低野郎“. Saitei Yaro, is a pun on the word VOTOMS – which sounds like “bottom” in Katakana phonetics. “Saitei” means “bottom-most”, and “Yaro” has the connotation of bastard. So the pilots of VOTOMS are also called “Saitei Yaro”. My previous COSPA purchase at KKnM was the Ghiren-themed t-shirt.
